YouTube Ads Hong Kong

An overview of YouTube Ads.

YouTube ads are the ads that show up in Youtube. They can be video, picture, or text ads, depending on the type of ads, the placement of the ads, and your overall strategy. Some YouTube ads are pretty obvious – we’ve all seen the advertisements before our video starts, yea? But other types of YouTube ads are more subtle, such as Overlay Ads and Sponsored Cards ads.

YouTube ads are more than just a tactic though – they are a phenomenal modern marketing strategy. YouTube Ads allow you to get your business in front of millions of potential customers with the clicks of a few buttons. Whether your goal is brand awareness, lead generation, or straight up sales, YouTube ads give your business a tremendous opportunity to grow at scale. It may take some time to optimize your campaign, but it can be potent once it’s up and running.

YouTube ads come in all shapes and sizes, but the benefit is always the same – growth for your business. There’s a reason that YouTube made over 19 billion in revenue from advertising in 2020 – their ads really do work. YouTube ads are ideal for all sizes of businesses, from ones just starting out to established ones and looking for immense growth. You just need to make sure your campaign is executed correctly.

If you execute your campaign correctly, the benefits of YouTube ads can be immense and instantly noticeable. YouTube ads are also relatively low risk and cost-effective. This is because (depending on the ad type) you only have to pay whenever someone actually clicks or interacts with your ad in some way. This is why it’s crucial to have a deep understanding of how the various types of ads work – so you can maximize your ROI.

While this is subject to change, as of writing, there are six types of YouTube ads. Trueview ads, non-skippable in-stream ads, bumper instream ads, sponsored ads cards, overlay ads, and display ads. Each of these ads needs to be executed differently, and each offers its own unique set of pros and cons. We think the best Youtube ads strategy depends on your business’s needs and your KPIs.

Having said that, Trueview Ads are undoubtedly the most popular type of YouTube advertisement. There are two types of Trueview ads – Instream Ads and Discovery Ads. Instream ads are particularly powerful; these are the skippable video ads that show up before the user’s video begins. These ads are low-risk, cost-effective, and can create some fantastic results for your business. Trueview Discovery Ads appear within YouTube organic results and the right-hand sidebar above the suggested videos list.

YouTube advertising works in a variety of different ways. It just depends on which types of ads you are going to go with. If you choose to go with Trueview Instream Ads (arguably the most popular), it works; if the viewer watches 30 seconds or longer of your advertisement, you pay YouTube. If the viewer hits the ‘skip’ button, then you don’t pay at all!

This setup is quite beneficial to businesses like yours. It means that you can run advertisements, and you are only paying for users who show genuine interest in the video advertisement you are running. And if the user hits the ‘skip’ button? You were still able to make an impression on them without paying a penny. Other YouTube ads typically work on a CPC (cost per click) basis – where you only have to pay if a user actually clicks or engages with the actual ad.

Youtube ads show up in a variety of places. The most commonly-seen area is before, during, or after the video the user is trying to watch. These types of ads are video ads and are called Trueview Instream Ads and Non-Skippable Video Ads. Ads that show up before, during, or after the video the user is watching can be very powerful if they are set up correctly. Plus, for Trueview Instream Ads, you only pay if the user watches 30 seconds or more of your video advertisement.

As for the other types of ads, they show up in various places on the YouTube site and app. YouTube Display Ads appear to the right-hand side of the featured video and above the video suggestion list. YouTube Overlay Ads are the transparent ads that show up on the bottom 20% of a featured video. YouTube Midroll Ads are video ads that are placed within the featured video (only for videos longer than 15 minutes). Finally, YouTube Sponsored Cards show up in the top right-hand corner of a featured video.

While both are powerful forms of Digital Marketing, and both primarily deal with the same company (Google), they are quite different in both their strategy and execution. YouTube Ads is a marketing strategy that means spending money on YouTube to get more brand awareness and sales. You have to pay YouTube to get the exposure which means you can start generating traffic immediately, but the moment you stop spending, your traffic will also come to a halt.

In contrast, SEO is the process of optimizing your website to get more organic traffic from search engines – typically from Google. SEO is often considered to be the most potent form of Digital Marketing. This is because you will take the time to optimize your site, which will slowly go up in the search rankings. Over time, your traffic will increase, and you will not have to spend more money to keep the traffic coming.

Youtube Ads and Facebook ads share many similarities but are also quite different in their reach and execution. Both advertising platforms require you to spend money upfront and allow you to do a mix of video, photos, and plain text ads. Both platforms also offer CPC (cost per click) models, which means that you only pay for the ads that your audience actually chooses to engage with.

Facebook ads are a bit different in their own way though. Facebook’s users are more likely to click on visual ads, and their video ads are usually positioned in the middle of their videos. Facebook also has a tremendous amount of data on its users, which means its targeting has traditionally been seen as more robust and sophisticated, but this is also changing with new developments like the iOS updates in 2020.

Again, there are certainly some similarities between YouTube ads and Google Search Ads, but they are pretty unique and different in their own ways. While YouTube is a part of Google, YouTube Ads tend to be very video-heavy. Also, YouTube ads can have a cheaper CPC (cost per click) than Google Search Ads – depending on your niche or your industry.

In contrast, Google Search Ads are the ads that pop up at the top of Google Search Results (usually labelled as an ‘Ad’). Google Search Ads can be extremely powerful because you can target keywords your customer base is searching for. The most significant difference between Google Search Ads and YouTube ads is that Google Search Ads are text-only ads. There are no video or photo options, meaning the copy for the ads needs to be really amazing to generate clicks. It should be noted that neither platform is better than the other – it just depends on the goals and KPIs of your business.

How YouTube Ads Can Help your Business.

Every type! YouTube ads are a proven way to increase brand awareness, generate leads, retarget prospects, influence the buyer decision, improve sales, and increase the lifetime value of your customers. If your business wants any of those things, then you should greatly consider investing in YouTube ads. Having said that, with so many digital marketing channels available, it’s wise to consider if YouTube ads are the ideal digital strategy for your business at this point in time.

To do this, you need to evaluate the pros and cons of YouTube ads and see if they are aligned with your company’s current goals. If you want to increase your brand awareness, have a moderate budget, and have well-produced video footage ready to be used, then YouTube ads will be hard to beat. Be sure to speak with a Digital Strategist to ensure that YouTube ads are the best option for your business at this point in time.

First thing is first – you need to ensure that YouTube Ads are the right strategy for your business at this point in time. If you are sure of that and are ready to proceed with a video advertisement, here are the steps. You will upload your video to your YouTube account and fill out all the necessary information – this includes the title, description, tags, and other categories.

From there, you will want to create a new campaign in Google Ads. To do this, login to your account, click on the ‘All Campaigns’ button in the top left-hand corner, then click ‘Video’. Next, you will need to select the type of goal for your campaign. You will have many options, including leads, website traffic, brand awareness, and more. You must set up your campaign correctly to ensure it is optimized to its fullest potential.

There is no set answer to this question, but some best practices may help put you in the right direction. While costs can vary dramatically depending on the niche, YouTube video ads typically cost around $0.10 to $0.30 UD per click or view. The total amount you spend per month will depend on the daily budget you set for your campaign, and unlike other platforms, YouTube doesn’t have a minimum monthly spend.

But while it might be tempting to try and spend a minimal amount of money on your YouTube ads, the results are rarely worth it. Super small budgets limit the amount of exposure your ads get, which limits the amount of data you get in return. With minimal data, it’s extremely difficult to draw any conclusions about the effectiveness of your YouTube Ads. For this reason, we say a starting budget for ads on YouTube should be around $5000HKD per month.

If there is anything that YouTube Ads excel at – it would be brand awareness. This is for a few reasons. First off, video as a medium makes a very powerful impression. As opposed to text ads (like Google Search Ads), video ads will allow you to visually tell your brand’s story in ways that other mediums frankly can’t compete with. If you have video content that is interesting, attention-grabbing, and well-produced, the likelihood of making a great first impression is even higher.

Another reason YouTube ads are great for brand awareness is scalability. Sure, a video ad can be powerful, but what good is it if it can only be shown to a few people? YouTube’s powerful targeting options allow you to reach your exact target audience and scale that to any part of the world you think potential customers might be. These factors combined are why YouTube Ads are extremely powerful for building brand awareness.

Both skippable and non-skippable YouTube ads can be effective, but each is typically better suited for different strategies. Non-skippable ads are ads that are 15-20 seconds in length and cannot be skipped over. These ads can be controversial as users complain they are too aggressive, and because the audience must watch them, they are more expensive. That said, non-skippable ads can be very effective and are usually recommended when your primary goal is to raise awareness for your brand.

As the name suggests, Skippable Ads do not need to be watched in their entirety – after the viewer watches 5 seconds of your ad, they have the option to click the ‘Skip’ button. These ads are typically considered less aggressive, and they are cheaper as you do not have to pay for them unless the viewer watches 30 seconds of your video. Because of all these factors, Skippable Ads are often considered more ideal for lead generation or reach.

YouTube Ads give you the option to retarget potential customers, which can be a compelling way to drive sales. The first way to retarget is by video viewers. Simply put, if someone watches your video, you can retarget them to watch the same video or to lead them further down your funnel with a different video. You will need someone to have watched 30 seconds of your video or longer to be able to retarget them (as opposed to Facebook, which the person only needs to watch for 3 seconds).

The second retargeting option is by engagement, which means if anyone adds your video to a playlist, likes a video, leaves a comment, or subscribes to your channel. The third retargeting option is through your email subscribers, which must be manually uploaded via a CSV file. Finally, you can also retarget viewers based on Adword pixel on your mobile app or website. Retargeting is one of the most effective ways to influence the buyer decision – each retargeting option is uniquely powerful in its own way.

If you want your YouTube video ad to be great and perform well, you need to nail two things – the creative and data elements. First, you need to make sure your ad is attention-grabbing, interesting, and that it clearly communicates the message/story of your brand. Failure to do this will result in your target audience hitting the ‘Skip’ button exactly at 5.01, the second mark.

The second part of having a great YouTube Video Ad is ensuring it is executed correctly. This means whoever is running the campaign understands how to set the ads up, how to optimize them for success, and most importantly, how to evaluate the data they get to make the necessary tweaks to achieve the maximum return on investment. This is why it’s important to work with a YouTube ads expert who has experience running and optimizing campaigns in multiple industries.

Hiring a YouTube Ads agency can be an intimidating quest – so it’s important you know what to look for (and what to ask) before you choose which agency to work with. First, be sure to check their Google Reviews. It’s a simple, but effective step, and will give you a clear indication of the value the agency has brought to their previous clients. If the agency has hundreds of positive reviews and an overall rating of 4.8 or higher, you know they have delivered stellar results for their clients time and time again.

From there, be sure to ask them some questions to understand better what they are bringing to the table. How big is their team? What sort of experience do they have with YouTube ads? Do they have any experience in YOUR niche? Do they outsource anything overseas? Do they take the time to learn your company’s goals? Do they integrate their KPIs with your company’s KPIs? By asking these questions, you will get a much clearer picture of whether or not you want to work with them.

The cost of YouTube Ads can be influenced by various factors such as the chosen format, bidding strategy, and target audience. Given that Google does not have a fixed price for YouTube Ads, you have the freedom to set a budget that aligns with your bidding strategy.

Moreover, the cost of your YouTube Ads can be influenced by your target audience and the specific parameters you choose to emphasise, as this can impact the volume and scale of your campaign. As a reputable Youtube advertising agency, First Page can help you navigate the landscape with ease.
