While the title tag and the H1 header have similarities, there are important differences to know about. They are both used to describe the content on the page, however, the title tag is an HTML element on the backend of your site that search engines look for. This is also what shows at the top of the web browser tab. The H1 header, however, is what shows on your page usually in big letters at the top to serve as your page’s title, but the H1 header does not show in search engine results. So best practice is that the title tags tell users what to expect to see when they click on the link and the H1 header, or page title, keeps them reading.
